What makes mythical beings so fascinating? (werewolves, immortals, vampires, ghosts, etc)?

Because, these beings live in our psyche. They are part of what we are as humans. Imaginative beings. And each of them is a personification of a psychological event, very real and emotionally powerful. This is why we are all fascinated with them.
