4 year old temper tantrums?

I have a 4 year old son who recently it seems throws a fit over silly things. For example, he didn't get the bowl he wanted for cereal, he got 3 nuggets instead of 4, or almost anytime he doesn't get his way. This results in a meltdown that last 5-15 minutes. Sometimes it's a battle, most times I leave him alone. Regardless, after he calms down, he goes back to the happy go lucky kid he is. Is this a phase? Is it normal? Should I be worried?
