What's this kid's deal?

Ok there is this freshman in my Theatre Arts cl (I'm a Junior). And a couple of times we cought each other's eye, and when I look back at him he'll look away real quick. There has only been one time where he looked me straight in the eyes and didn't look away. When he did that it looked like he was trying to 'yze' me or something. And I kept looking at him, because I was curious and it looked like he was getting shy because he kept puting his head in his arms on his desk. Then everytime I looked away he'd stare at me. The first day of school and the second day, he stared at me a whole lot throughout the day. What exactly would you say is his deal? Do you think hes interested or does he just have a staring problem?
